WELCOME TO PERTH!
The Perth Bell Tower
We know Perth is a long way for anyone to travel, even for guests within Australia! We cannot thank you enough for even considering the long journey to come celebrate with us.
On this page you will find everything you need to know about the ceremony as well as visiting and staying in Perth.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or need help with planning your trip!
ACCOMMODATION
Perth has a range of accommodation options to suit every budget. We strongly recommend checking AirBNB for affordable, good quality places to stay, but here's a short list of hotel options:
IN THE CITY
- Holiday Inn Perth
- Pan Pacific Hotel
- Four Points by Sheraton
- Sebel East Perth
- Fraser Suites
NEAR THE SWAN VALLEY
- Rose and Crown Hotel, Guildford
- Sebel Swan Valley
- Grand Mercure, The Vines
- Oasis Retreat, Swan Valley
The wedding venue is in the Swan Valley, one of the oldest wine regions in Australia. However, transport to and from this area can be expensive and hard to find if you're looking to explore other parts of Perth as well. We would instead suggest looking at more central accommodation options as it's far more accessible.
TRANSPORT
Perth is known for its sprawl and we recommend looking into renting a car while you're here. Plenty of rental car options are available, including familiar names like Budget, Avis and Hertz, as well as local options like Bayswater Rentals.
It's worth noting that there are no public transportation options between the airport and the Perth city centre. There are shuttles that will get you downtown, but if you're not staying in that area then your options are limited to a taxi. That said, please keep us abreast of your travel plans as we just might be able to pick you up from the airport and get you where you need to go!
During your stay, public transport is a viable option if you are living in or very near the Perth CBD, as it serves as the central hub for all Transperth buses and trains. Plus, planning your trip is easy because Transperth has fully integrated its schedules and services into Google Maps.
You can access public transport by purchasing single-trip tickets (which can be a pain to figure out without help or familiarity with the zone system), or you can buy a Smartrider stored-value card (available at all news agents) for $10 each. We will be happy to assist you if you do decide to use public transport to get around.
For the day of the wedding, we can help you book a taxi to and from the venue!
CLIMATE
Perth's climate in December is hot and dry. The average high for December is about 29C but it does occasionally hit the 40C+ mark! Don't worry - we've already ensured that there will be plenty of shade at the venue for the ceremony.
Most important to know is that yes, the sun is brutal in Perth. Even though you'll be joining us late in the afternoon and you will be well-shaded on the day of the ceremony, for the rest of your stay in Perth we do recommend making sure you've always got sun protection with you. Hats and sunglasses are your best friends, as is the ever-popular sunblock!
THINGS TO DO AND SEE
While not the cheapest shopping option in the world, Western Australia does have heaps to offer if you love the outdoors, good coffee, good food, and good wine/beer/cider. We're happy to point you in the right direction depending on what you'd like to see, but some nifty places you might like to check out are:
- Kings Park, including the Botanic Gardens and War Memorial
- Beaches at Cottesloe, Scarborough, and City Beach!
- AQWA - Western Australian Aquarium
- Araluen Botanic Park
- Perth Zoo
- Fremantle, including the Fremantle Prison and the Maritime Museum
Wine tours are a popular option if you're keen to spend some time out in the Swan Valley to see what the region has to offer. If you're up for leaving the Perth metropolitan area for a few days, there's Margaret River, which is a 4-hour drive south and widely lauded as the state's premier wine region.
